I am AbdulFattah Popoola; an engineering leader with over 15 years of software development experience across multiple business domains and technical stacks.
I have led teams through varying product maturity stages (startup, hypergrowth, and established large-scale products). Working on such a broad spectrum of products has exposed me to various exciting challenges, such as:
- Turning around a low-performing team
- Guiding teams through crises
- Leading geographically-dispersed teams
- Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding a brand new team into a new domain
- Spinning down a product that did not achieve product-market fit
- Stabilizing teams bogged down by technical debt
Why should you read this?
This blog presents leadership methodologies for high-impact outcomes. Each post typically describes a challenge I faced, my hard-learned lessons, and the reusable framework to use.
Areas include building high-performing teams, setting direction, creating an engineering culture, identifying high-leverage interventions, and more. I aim to help engineering leaders accelerate their growth while supporting their teams to reach their highest potential.
What should you expect?
I expect to publish twice a month on Thursdays; it currently takes me about 15 hours to write a high-quality post. Each post will share practical tips for honing your technical chops, cultivating robust relationships, and improving your influencing skills.

Found your blog while searching information about PubSub/Observer-Pattern in JavaScript and really have to say that your blog is one of the few reliable ones. I share your passion about development – I’m developing for 12 years now – and spend a lot time of my time on it, too :D
I’m a huge fan of JavaScript, too (learned to love it during the past three years), but I’m highly addicted to PHP! :D
Have a nice day and keep going on,
greetings from Germany

Great work you are doing boss. I have been reading your blog for about 3 years now. I must confess your experience has helped me grow as a young Software Engineer. I am surprised I didn’t know you in Ife too. I do hope one day I will eventually put a face to the name.
