What does success look like?
That is the question I like to ask nowadays at the beginning of anything: a sprint, a project or a book.
It is a conscious decision to clearly and unambiguously articulate the end goal. That way, I can align my efforts for maximum leverage. Once the goal is obvious, all I have to do is identify the steps needed and then concentrate my focus on those tasks.
Before you start to work on the next feature or fix those bugs; take a step back and think of the needle you want to move. Be strategic in choosing desired outcomes; that way you apply your full focus and energy on the critical few pieces; everything else? You can let slide if push comes to shove.
